Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. (Sona Comstar), a leading global mobility technology solutions provider, has announced two major production milestones. The company has successfully manufactured 500 million differential gears and 10 million differential assemblies since its inception, reinforcing its position as a key global driveline solutions provider.
Sona Comstar designs and manufactures differential assemblies, precision-forged gears, and other driveline components for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and off-highway vehicles. The company is among the leading global manufacturers of differential assemblies for BEVs and continues to expand across both electric and conventional mobility platforms. As per company estimates, it held an 8.7% global market share in differential gears in CY25, up from 4.5% in 2019.
The company began production of precision-forged differential gears at its Gurugram plant in 1999, followed by expansion to Pune in 2005. It crossed 100 million gears in 2013 and 200 million in early 2018. Production accelerated significantly thereafter, with the latest 100 million gears produced within just two years, highlighting strong demand and scaling capabilities.
On the differential assemblies front, Sona Comstar started manufacturing in Gurugram in 2008, expanded to Pune in 2014, and added a state-of-the-art facility in Manesar in 2019. The company produced its first million assemblies in 2017 and reached 5 million by 2023. The next 5 million were manufactured in less than three years, underscoring rapid growth and rising customer demand.
