Tata Motors has adopted ‘Tata.Cars’ as the new customer-facing identity for its passenger vehicle business, aiming to create a unified brand experience across retail, digital and service operations. The new identity will be progressively introduced across dealerships and showrooms, digital touchpoints, after-sales and service operations, as well as marketing communications.
The company has clarified that the change will not affect its legal identity or corporate structure. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles will continue to remain the registered legal entity for statutory filings, manufacturing plants, official contracts and regulatory obligations.
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, said that Tata.Cars is an identity that Indian customers have already given the company, and Tata Motors is now formally embracing it. According to Chandra, the Tata name represents the company’s heritage, values and trust built over generations, while Tata.Cars provides the passenger vehicle business with a distinct, modern and future-focused identity.
The new brand system has been designed to work across products, technologies, customer experiences and markets. Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, said the transition will also bring a new visual and sensory identity based on the ‘Parallel Pathways’ design philosophy.
The new brand system includes ‘Ambition Blue’ as the primary colour, a bespoke typeface called ‘Parallel Display’ and a new sonic identity. Tata Motors will begin upgrading its dealerships over the coming months with redesigned interiors and a new stainless-steel façade featuring louvred panels.
Meanwhile, Tata.ev will continue as the dedicated electric vehicle sub-brand. The change does not replace Tata.ev; instead, it places the EV brand within the broader Tata.Cars architecture. This will allow Tata Motors to maintain a distinct identity for its electric vehicle portfolio while creating a unified customer-facing identity for its overall passenger vehicle business.
