Aavishkaar Foundation has announced the launch of its new ₹2,500 crore Aavishkaar Next Gen Fund to support startups in India and expand entrepreneurship opportunities in rural areas. The fund aims to provide financial assistance to approximately 30 Indian startups over the next three to five years.
Alongside this initiative, the foundation has partnered to establish AI-powered JanAI cafés across 25 districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh. The initiative is expected to help connect rural youth with digital technology and entrepreneurship opportunities.
Cleantech and Technology Startups to Receive Support
Aavishkaar Foundation Chairman Vineet Rai told news agency PTI that the new fund will focus exclusively on India. It will support startups operating in sectors such as cleantech, recycling, energy transition, climate technology and fintech.
According to Rai, the foundation will assess each startup's business plan and total project cost before determining the level of financial assistance it can provide. This is the foundation's seventh fund.
He added that the organisation has supported approximately 100 startups with investments ranging from ₹5,000 crore to ₹5,500 crore to date. Around 85% of this funding has gone to Indian startups. These ventures include businesses operating in agriculture, dairy, healthcare, education and financial services.
AI-Powered JanAI Cafés to Open Across 25 Districts in UP
During the Sankalp Bharat 2026 programme, Aavishkaar Foundation, Head Held High Foundation and JanAI Technology Private Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Under the agreement, the partners plan to establish one JanAI café in each of the 25 districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh over the next 12 months.
The cafés aim to expand access to AI technology among rural families, young people, women, farmers and entrepreneurs. Trained local operators and JanAI ambassadors will help people use AI in their local languages, access information about government schemes, explore employment and market opportunities and develop new business ideas.
The initiative focuses on integrating digital technology into the everyday needs and livelihood activities of rural communities. However, detailed information about formal education or structured skill-training programmes at these cafés is not yet available.
Entrepreneurship Programme Reaches More Than 30,000 Students
According to information published on Aavishkaar Foundation's website and programme-related materials, its entrepreneurship initiatives have reached more than 30,000 students across over 500 government schools and colleges in 25 districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
The foundation's Youth Entrepreneurship Programme encourages students to develop entrepreneurial thinking and create innovative solutions to existing problems. Meanwhile, its Entrepreneur Investing Programme helps early-stage entrepreneurs take their business ideas forward.
Through these initiatives, the foundation aims to prepare young people in smaller cities and rural areas to explore employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, rather than limiting their aspirations to finding jobs.
