Maruti Suzuki Holds 54% Share in Clean Energy Vehicle Market
Maruti Suzuki says it commands a 54% market share in the CNG, hybrid and electric vehicle segment and expects the new Brezza to further strengthen its leadership.

India largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India, has said it holds a 54% market share in the clean energy vehicle segment, which includes CNG, hybrid and electric vehicles. The company believes the refreshed Maruti Brezza will further reinforce its leadership in this fast-growing market.

Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer – Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India, said the company continues to lead the country's clean and green mobility segment with a 54% market share.

According to Banerjee, the new Brezza has been developed around three key customer requirements: improved low-end torque for city driving, higher power for highway performance, and an underbody CNG variant that offers cleaner mobility without compromising on performance.

He added that customer research indicates buyers are more focused on real-world driving performance than technical specifications such as horsepower and torque. Keeping this in mind, Maruti has equipped the new Brezza with features designed to enhance everyday driving.

The company also expects the compact SUV segment to remain a major growth driver. SUVs currently account for 57–58% of India's passenger vehicle market, while compact SUVs represent around 30% of the total SUV segment.

Maruti Suzuki said production has improved following the commencement of operations at its Kharkhoda manufacturing facility, although demand for several models continues to outpace supply. Brezza sales have remained steady at around 15,000 units per month, but production constraints had previously limited the company's ability to fully meet customer demand.

With increased manufacturing capacity and the introduction of turbo-petrol and underbody CNG variants, Maruti Suzuki expects the new Brezza to strengthen its leadership in both the compact SUV segment and the rapidly expanding clean energy vehicle market.
