NIPS Institute of Hotel and Hospitality Management Hosts New Zealand Industry Delegation, Expands Global Placement Opportunities for Students.

In a significant step toward strengthening international career opportunities for Indian hospitality students, NIPS, a renowned Hotel Management college in Kolkata, has hosted a prestigious overseas delegation representing leading hospitality employers from New Zealand, along with the Vira International team from London and their Auckland-based partners at the NIPS Kolkata campus.

The interaction and recruitment session gave aspiring hospitality professionals direct access to international industry representatives and structured internship opportunities in New Zealand’s hospitality sector. Activities included meet-and-greet sessions, skill assessments, interviews and career orientations. Students from Culinary Arts, Food & Beverage Service, Front Office Operations, Housekeeping and hybrid roles were evaluated on technical skills, communication, professionalism and operational knowledge for international placements.

Over the last three decades, hospitality education has evolved far beyond traditional hotel careers. Today, professionally trained hospitality graduates are increasingly finding opportunities across aviation, cruise lines, luxury retail, global customer relations, tourism, international events, corporate administration and premium service industries worldwide. Institutions like NIPS are now positioning hospitality education as a gateway to global careers, personality development, international exposure and early financial independence.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Vivek Pathak, Founder-Director of NIPS Hospitality Group, said, “Hospitality education today is no longer limited to local borders. Over the past three decades, the industry has evolved from a traditional hotel-focused profession into a globally connected career ecosystem spanning aviation, cruise lines, tourism, luxury services and international hospitality. At NIPS, our focus remains on preparing students not only academically but also professionally and personally so that they can confidently compete on global platforms.”

As part of the practical evaluations, culinary students demonstrated creativity, presentation techniques, teamwork and attention to detail under the supervision of Executive Chef Marc, while other students showcased communication abilities, guest interaction skills, confidence, grooming standards, professionalism and overall service excellence.

“Students today aspire for global exposure, financial independence, and international careers at an early stage. Hospitality education has evolved into one of the strongest gateways to global opportunities and our students are increasingly finding career pathways not only in hotels but also across airlines, cruise lines, tourism, luxury services and global customer-experience industries," Dr. Pathak further added.

The international internship program provides students with a formalized industry exposure program in New Zealand via a Student and Trainee Work Visa route. There are options in Culinary Arts, Food and Beverage Service, Front Office and Housekeeping, offering global hospitality exposure and practical industry training. Students selected for the program will earn at least NZD 23.15 per hour while working 40 to 50 hours a week with an entirely online visa process.

The visiting delegation was pleased with the confidence, grooming, communication abilities, discipline, and practicality of the students. It is a demonstration of the increasing global requirement for professionally trained Indian hospitality manpower.

With more than three decades of success and presence in Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Ranchi and Shillong, the NIPS Hospitality Group remains committed to international cooperation, industry-oriented education, employability, personality development and preparing students for global hospitality careers.
