P.F. Chang’s has launched its first restaurant in Mohali at HLP Gallerria, marking the brand’s entry into the Tricity region and expanding its footprint in North India. The launch forms part of the brand’s broader expansion strategy in the country as it targets new high-potential markets beyond traditional metro locations.
Founded in 1993, the restaurant chain has built its global presence around wok-based cooking techniques that date back nearly 2,000 years. Over the past three decades, the brand has grown to operate more than 300 restaurants across 20+ countries, focusing on high-heat wok cooking, scratch preparation and Asian-inspired flavour profiles.
With the Mohali launch, P.F. Chang’s now operates eight restaurants in India. Prior to this opening, the brand had established seven outlets across Mumbai and the Delhi-NCR market. The Mohali restaurant represents the company’s first entry into the Punjab region and reflects a shift toward expanding into emerging food destinations in North India.
The India operations are managed by Gourmet Investments Pvt. Ltd., which oversees the brand’s development in the country. Ramit Bharti Mittal, Executive Chairman and Director at Gourmet Investments Pvt. Ltd., said, “At P.F. Chang’s, we have built a loyal following in India by staying true to our culinary roots while evolving with the modern Indian diner. Mohali today is one of North India’s most happening food destinations, with guests who are eager to experiment. Our entry here today is therefore perfectly timed to fit into this vibrant food culture by offering bold, new flavors and globally benchmarked experiences.”
The Mohali opening is also aligned with the company’s ongoing market development plans in India. Taylor Viersen, Vice President of Global Brand Development at P.F. Chang’s, stated, “Expanding into the Tricity market is a proud milestone in our strategic growth across India, a market that remains a top priority for P.F. Chang’s. We look forward to delivering our signature bold flavors, world-class standards, and ‘wok-first’ culinary heritage to Mohali.”
The restaurant’s menu continues to centre around the brand’s signature high-heat wok cooking method, which operates at temperatures of around 700 degrees to maintain flavour intensity and texture. Guests at the Mohali outlet will have access to a selection of dishes that are popular across the brand’s global locations, including Chang’s Lettuce Wraps, Dynamite Shrimp and Kung Pao Chicken.
In addition to these items, the menu has been adapted for Indian diners with vegetarian and Jain options. Signature desserts and dishes such as Great Wall of Chocolate, Orange Chicken and Lo Mein will also be available. According to the company, all dishes are served MSG-free as part of the brand’s quality standards.
Jerry Thomas, Culinary Head – Restaurants, said, “Our cuisine is built on technique and precision. High-heat wok cooking, fresh ingredients and sauces prepared from scratch every day are fundamental to what we do. Alongside globally loved classics, the Mohali menu introduces locally crafted expressions inspired by the P.F. Chang’s culinary legacy, including dishes such as Hunan Chili Chicken, Ring of Fire Shrimp and Crispy Lotus Root, each bringing bold flavor, balance and the signature wok-fired intensity the brand is known for.”
The Mohali restaurant also introduces a full-service dining environment designed for group dining, celebrations and casual meals. The interiors are designed to support family dining and social gatherings, aligning with the brand’s global restaurant format.
Industry analysts note that international restaurant brands are increasingly expanding into tier-two and emerging urban markets across India as consumer demand for global cuisines grows outside traditional metro centres. The Mohali opening reflects this trend, as P.F. Chang’s continues its expansion across northern markets while maintaining its focus on Asian-inspired cuisine and wok-based cooking techniques.
