Range Rover has announced that its second all-electric model, the Range Rover Sport Electric, will be launched by the end of this year. With this model, the company is preparing to strengthen its presence in the luxury electric SUV segment.
The announcement follows the unveiling of the Range Rover Electric, which was showcased at several events in the UK during the summer. The Sport Electric will retain the existing design language of the Range Rover Sport while featuring a fully electric powertrain. According to the company, the new powertrain will deliver improved performance compared to previous versions.
Recently, the Range Rover Sport Electric prototype was showcased at a private event during the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The vehicle participated in several driving demonstrations at the Goodwood Motor Circuit. The demonstrations also highlighted the brand’s history of challenging endurance tests, including a stair climb in China and a spillway ascent in Iceland.
According to Range Rover, the new model will feature updated chassis tuning and sound engineering alongside its electric powertrain. These updates are aimed at giving the Range Rover Sport Electric a distinctive driving character compared to other models in the lineup.
Martin Limpert, Managing Director of Range Rover, said the new electric powertrain would add a new dimension to the identity of the Range Rover Sport. He added that electric power would bring a new edge to the model.
With the launch of the Range Rover Sport Electric, the model’s powertrain lineup will become more diverse. It currently includes plug-in hybrid, mild-hybrid V8 petrol, and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engine options.
Further technical details and pricing for the Range Rover Sport Electric are expected to be announced later in 2026. Range Rover has said that all models in its lineup will be offered with electric hybrid options, while fully electric versions across the range are planned before 2030.
