Auto components manufacturer Sona Comstar and Tata STRIVE have jointly inaugurated a Skill Development Centre in Chakan, Pune (Maharashtra). The initiative aims to address the growing demand for a skilled workforce in Pune's automotive manufacturing hub while creating better employment opportunities for local youth.
The newly established centre will offer specialized training programs in electric vehicle (EV) technology, CNC operations, electrical maintenance, and financial services. Located in Chakan, the facility is expected to bridge the gap between job seekers and the region's automotive and manufacturing industries by providing industry-relevant skills.
The initiative builds on Tata STRIVE's industry-linked skilling programs. According to Sona Comstar, a similar skill development centre jointly established by the two organizations in Chennai achieved a placement rate of nearly 80%. The company also noted a significant increase in the participation of women trainees at the Chennai facility.
Sona Comstar believes the new centre will play an important role in developing a skilled talent pool to support the rapid growth of India's electric vehicle and automotive industries.
