Premium eyewear retailer Sunglass Hut has achieved a major milestone in its India growth story with the inauguration of its 100th store, located in Model Town, Jalandhar. Sunglass Hut began its India journey on November 3, 2008, when Italian eyewear giant Luxottica Group SpA entered into a strategic partnership with DLF Group to establish the brand’s organised retail presence in the country. The alliance set out with an ambitious plan to roll out 100 Sunglass Hut stores across premium malls and upscale retail destinations nationwide.

This collaboration paved the way for bringing leading global eyewear labels to Indian consumers through a dedicated multi-brand retail format. Over the years, Sunglass Hut steadily expanded its footprint across prominent shopping centres, airports, and high-street locations, catering to a growing base of style-conscious and aspirational customers seeking premium international brands.

The opening of the 100th store represents the realisation of the brand’s early expansion vision while marking a new phase of growth.

A significant strategic transition in Sunglass Hut’s India operations took place in 2022, when Reliance Brands Limited (RBL) acquired the brand’s India franchise rights from DLF Brands, along with an existing network of around 85 stores.

While Sunglass Hut continues to be owned globally by Luxottica, Reliance Brands now manages the brand’s retail operations, store expansion strategy and e-commerce presence in India.

Since assuming the franchise rights, Reliance Brands Limited has accelerated Sunglass Hut’s expansion strategy, driving fresh store launches and securing premium retail placements. The brand has strengthened its presence in marquee luxury destinations, including Jio World Plaza, along with other prominent high-footfall locations across the country.

The move is in line with Reliance Brands Limited’s broader strategy of scaling global fashion and lifestyle brands in India through deeper distribution networks, elevated consumer experiences, and strengthened omnichannel capabilities.
