Under this initiative, the company has announced a scholarship pool of ₹2 crore, which will benefit female students across the country who wish to pursue education and career opportunities in the healthcare field.
According to the announcement made in New Delhi, the scholarship program will provide financial assistance to women seeking admission to various healthcare-related academic courses. Virohan aims to enable more young women to become part of India’s rapidly growing healthcare sector and gain access to career-oriented education.
Female Students to Receive Scholarships Ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹2 Lakh
The company stated that every eligible female student enrolling through Virohan in a 4-5 year bachelor’s degree program or a one-year university certificate program will receive a scholarship of ₹50,000. This amount will be adjusted directly against the course fee, reducing the financial burden on students and their families at the time of admission.
In addition, merit-based scholarships will be offered based on academic performance. Female students who have scored 75 percent or above in Class 12 will be eligible for scholarships of up to ₹1 lakh, while those who have secured 90 percent or higher marks can receive scholarships of up to ₹2 lakh.
Focus on Increasing Women’s Participation in Healthcare Education
According to Virohan, the initiative is not limited to financial assistance alone. It also aims to create greater awareness about the diverse career opportunities available in the healthcare sector. The company believes that the demand for trained healthcare professionals in India continues to rise and that the sector is expected to generate millions of employment opportunities in the coming years.
While most students and parents associate healthcare careers only with MBBS programs and the NEET examination, the reality is much broader. Nearly 65 percent of India’s healthcare workforce consists of allied health and healthcare professionals, including physiotherapists, radiology technicians, operation theatre technicians, medical laboratory specialists and other clinical support professionals.
A Healthcare Career Is Possible Even Without NEET
The company emphasized that a NEET score is not mandatory for building a successful career in the healthcare sector. Students who have completed Class 12, whether from science or other academic streams, can enroll in various healthcare education programs. These courses equip students with industry-relevant skills and open pathways to careers across multiple healthcare disciplines.
Virohan believes that a large number of students and parents are still unaware of these alternative career pathways. This is one of the key reasons why the company is focusing not only on scholarships but also on awareness-building efforts, helping more young women explore and benefit from opportunities available across the healthcare ecosystem.
An Important Step Toward Women’s Empowerment
Commenting on the initiative, Virohan Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Nalin Saluja said that the healthcare sector offers not only meaningful and respected careers but also strong long-term growth and employment opportunities. He noted that there is a global shortage of skilled healthcare professionals and India has significant potential to help meet this growing demand.
He added that the biggest challenge is not the lack of opportunities, but the lack of awareness. Many students are unaware that numerous healthcare career options exist beyond NEET. The scholarship program has therefore been introduced to bridge this information gap and encourage more women to pursue rewarding careers in healthcare.
Programs Available Across More Than 20 Universities
Through Virohan’s network of partner universities and colleges, female students will have access to healthcare degree and certificate programs at more than 20 reputed institutions across India. These include UPES Dehradun, MIT University Shillong, CMR University Bengaluru, KIET Ghaziabad, HRIT University, Lingaya’s Vidyapeeth, Silver Oak University Ahmedabad and Vikrant University Gwalior, among others.
The company stated that admissions for the 2026 academic intake are now open. Interested female students and their parents can visit Virohan’s official website to learn more about the scholarship program and available healthcare courses. Experts believe that this initiative could play a significant role in increasing women’s participation in healthcare education while helping develop the next generation of skilled healthcare professionals in India.
