A group of beneficiaries from various scholarship schemes of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs met the President of India, Mrs. Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 2, 2026. On this occasion, the President encouraged tribal youth to move forward through education, skills and technology and play an active role in the nation’s development.
Addressing the students and young beneficiaries, President Murmu said that India has no shortage of talent. What is needed is proper guidance, support and opportunities. She stated that the success of scholarship beneficiaries proves that if given the right opportunities, young people from villages, remote areas and tribal regions can make their mark at both national and international levels.
Scholarship Schemes Are Turning Dreams into Reality
The President said that the Government of India is continuously working for the social and educational upliftment of tribal communities. She emphasized that scholarship schemes are not merely a source of financial assistance but also a means of giving wings to the dreams of young people. These initiatives provide opportunities to talented students whose progress is often hindered by a lack of resources.
She added that through education, scholarships and mentorship, new avenues in higher education, research, skill development, and employment are opening up for tribal youth. This enables them to contribute not only to their own growth but also to the development of their communities and society.

President Murmu said that education is the most effective means of making an individual self-reliant, aware, and capable. Sharing her personal experiences, she noted that education played a crucial role in her own journey of success. It gave her the confidence and strength to overcome challenges and serve society.
She told the beneficiaries that their achievements can inspire millions of children who dare to dream despite limited resources. When successful youth help others move forward, the vision of inclusive development becomes stronger and more achievable.

The President described young people as symbols of the nation’s strength, hope and bright future. She particularly urged youth from tribal communities to remain connected to their culture, traditions and roots. While embracing modern education and technology, preserving cultural heritage is equally important.
She said that India’s tribal traditions, knowledge systems and way of life are invaluable treasures of the nation. If young people take pride in their identity and heritage, they will be able to strike a meaningful balance between modernity and tradition.
Education and Technology Will Help Build a Developed India
President Murmu stated that when youth move forward with the power of education and technology, they will play a significant role in building a strong, prosperous and self-reliant India. She noted that the country is progressing toward the goal of becoming a “Developed India” by 2047 and young people will have the most important role in achieving this vision.
She encouraged students to excel in fields such as science, technology, education, entrepreneurship, administration, research and social service. The President emphasized that regardless of the field they choose, young people can contribute meaningfully to society and nation-building through their talent, dedication and hard work.
Tribal Education Is Receiving New Momentum
Experts believe that scholarship schemes for tribal students are an important step toward ensuring equal educational opportunities. Through these initiatives, economically disadvantaged yet talented students are gaining access to quality education, higher studies and skill development opportunities.
