Kia India has officially unveiled the electric version of its existing Syros SUV, the Syros EV. The company has also commenced orders for the new electric model. Customers can book the SUV by paying a token amount of 25,000 through Kia’s digital portal and its dealership network across the country. However, Kia has not yet announced the official price of the Syros EV. The ICE version of the SUV is priced from ₹8.42 lakh.
The Kia Syros EV uses a liquid-cooled Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery and is offered with two battery options. The top-spec Extended Range variant gets a 51.4 kWh battery pack, delivering an ARAI-certified range of up to 526 km. The variant produces a peak output of 171 PS and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.1 seconds, according to the company.
The second variant comes with a 42 kWh battery pack and offers a certified range of 443 km. With support for 100 kW DC fast charging, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 39 minutes.
To address the high upfront cost associated with electric vehicles, Kia has introduced several alternative ownership and financing options alongside its conventional sales model. These include a 15-year high-voltage battery warranty, an Assured Vehicle Buyback Option and customised monthly financing options based on a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model.
For charging access, Kia has integrated its unified K-Charge ecosystem into the MyKia app. The platform provides access to more than 20,300 public charging points operated by 23 different charge point operators through a single digital transaction wallet.
In terms of design, the Syros EV receives several updates to distinguish it from its ICE counterpart. These include a closed front digital fascia, integrated star-map DRLs, flush-fitting automatic door handles and 17-inch alloy wheels. With the Syros EV, Kia aims to strengthen its presence in India’s rapidly growing electric SUV market.
