The company has signed an MoU with the Government of Gujarat to establish the battery energy storage system assembly unit in Karjan with an investment of around Rs 160 crore.

Renewable energy infrastructure company Mecpower Solutions Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat to establish a 5 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assembly facility in Karjan. The project involves a proposed capital investment of approximately Rs 160 crore.

The proposed facility will assemble battery energy storage systems for utility-scale renewable energy projects, as well as commercial and industrial energy storage applications.

As India clean energy capacity continues to expand, battery energy storage systems are playing an increasingly important role in managing the intermittency of renewable power generation and ensuring grid stability. The technology is expected to support reliable power supply while accelerating the country transition to clean energy.

Setul Shah, Managing Director of Mecpower Solutions Limited, said, "Our proposed investment in a 5 GWh Battery Energy Storage System assembly facility reflects our confidence in India clean energy growth story and our commitment to strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities."

The company believes the project will strengthen India battery energy storage ecosystem, promote local manufacturing, and contribute to the country's clean energy and energy security ambitions.
