Zelio E-Mobility Opens New Manufacturing Plant in Coimbatore
Zelio E-Mobility has strengthened its presence in South India by inaugurating a new manufacturing facility in Coimbatore, increasing its annual production capacity by 33% to 240,000 units.

Electric two- and three-wheeler manufacturer Zelio E-Mobility has expanded its footprint in South India with the inauguration of a new manufacturing facility in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Located on Trichy Road, the approximately 39,000 sq. ft. plant has been established for electric scooter assembly, storage, and logistics operations. According to the company, the facility will cater to key markets across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and South Maharashtra.

The new facility has an installed production capacity of 60,000 units per year. During its initial phase, the company expects to manufacture and assemble 24,000 to 30,000 electric two-wheelers annually, with production set to increase in line with market demand. Zelio E-Mobility believes the plant will play a crucial role over the next 12 to 24 months in expanding its dealer network, strengthening after-sales service, improving supply chain efficiency, and increasing its market share across southern India.

The Coimbatore facility currently provides direct employment to 30 people, with plans to recruit over 100 additional employees in the coming months. The company aims to grow its total workforce to more than 500 employees during the current financial year. Established with an investment of up to ₹1 crore, the plant will assemble the company's existing range of electric two-wheelers, while details of upcoming models are expected to be announced at a later stage.

With the addition of the Coimbatore unit, Zelio E-Mobility's manufacturing network now comprises four facilities located in Ladwa and Patan (Haryana), Cuttack (Odisha), and Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu). The company's total annual production capacity has increased from 180,000 units to 240,000 units, representing a 33% growth. Zelio E-Mobility stated that the new plant follows the same manufacturing standards and quality protocols as its existing facilities, with further announcements on technology upgrades and sustainability initiatives expected in the near future.
