AI, Hybrid Learning और Upskilling से EdTech Growth को मिल रही नई रफ्तार, जबकि कंपनियों का फोकस Revenue Quality और Profitability पर बढ़ा


भारत का EdTech sector अब केवल तेज user acquisition और digital expansion तक सीमित नहीं रह गया है। Pandemic के बाद बाजार में revenue quality, profitability, hybrid education, AI-powered learning और employability-focused programmes पर जोर बढ़ा है। FY26 के शुरुआती financial indicators भी बताते हैं कि बड़े EdTech players अब scale के साथ sustainable business models और operating efficiency को प्राथमिकता दे रहे हैं।

Q1 FY26 में PhysicsWallah की 33% Revenue Growth

इस बदलाव का एक प्रमुख quarterly संकेत PhysicsWallah (PW) के Q1 FY26 प्रदर्शन से मिला। कंपनी का operating revenue अप्रैल-जून 2025 तिमाही में ₹847 करोड़ रहा, जो पिछले साल की समान तिमाही के ₹635 करोड़ से करीब 33% अधिक है। हालांकि, revenue growth के साथ profitability एक चुनौती बनी रही और कंपनी का net loss बढ़कर करीब ₹127 करोड़ हो गया।

PW का प्रदर्शन इसलिए महत्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि कंपनी ने online learning से आगे बढ़कर offline Vidyapeeth centres, hybrid education, test preparation और skilling को अपने business model में शामिल किया है। यह बदलाव बताता है कि भारतीय EdTech कंपनियां अब केवल app-based learning पर निर्भर रहने के बजाय online और offline दोनों माध्यमों को जोड़कर learners तक पहुंच बढ़ा रही हैं।

Great Learning ने FY25 में दर्ज की ₹1,000 करोड़ से अधिक Revenue

Professional upskilling और higher education segment में Great Learning ने FY25 में ₹1,039 करोड़ का consolidated revenue from operations दर्ज किया, जो FY24 के ₹992 करोड़ से करीब 4.7% अधिक है। इससे भी महत्वपूर्ण बात यह रही कि कंपनी का operating profit करीब तीन गुना बढ़कर ₹40.23 करोड़ पहुंच गया।

कंपनी ने FY25 में अपने growth को खास तौर पर AI और professional upskilling की बढ़ती global demand से जोड़ा। Great Learning ने IIT Bombay और Johns Hopkins University जैसे संस्थानों के साथ academic collaborations भी बढ़ाए हैं और AI-focused learning programmes पर जोर दिया है।

upGrad का Focus Global Upskilling और Higher Education पर

upGrad भी ₹1,000 करोड़ से अधिक revenue वाले प्रमुख Indian EdTech players में शामिल है। FY25 में कंपनी ने ₹1,943 करोड़ का gross revenue और ₹1,650 करोड़ का total income reported किया। कंपनी ने इसी अवधि में EBITDA profitability हासिल करने की जानकारी दी, जो उसके sustainable growth model की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण संकेत है।

upGrad का business model अब higher education, executive education, professional upskilling, university partnerships और international markets के साथ AI-led learning solutions पर केंद्रित है। इससे EdTech sector में traditional test-preparation से आगे career-focused और lifelong learning की बढ़ती मांग दिखाई देती है।

Revenue से आगे बढ़कर Profitability पर Focus

भारत के EdTech sector में अब केवल बड़े revenue numbers को growth का पैमाना नहीं माना जा सकता। PhysicsWallah का उदाहरण दिखाता है कि तेज revenue growth के साथ expansion costs और profitability पर भी दबाव रह सकता है, जबकि Great Learning का FY25 प्रदर्शन revenue growth के साथ operating profit में तेज सुधार की ओर संकेत करता है।

यही कारण है कि FY26 में EdTech कंपनियों के लिए quality of growth एक महत्वपूर्ण metric बन गया है। कंपनियां learner acquisition के साथ retention, paid users, programme completion, employability outcomes, operating margins और repeat demand जैसे indicators पर अधिक ध्यान दे रही हैं।

AI और Upskilling बन रहे Growth के बड़े इंजन

AI ने professional education और upskilling segment में नई मांग पैदा की है। Great Learning ने भी FY25 में AI-related professional upskilling की global demand को अपने growth drivers में शामिल किया। दूसरी ओर, upGrad जैसे platforms AI, executive education और international learning opportunities को अपने expansion strategy का हिस्सा बना रहे हैं। इससे संकेत मिलता है कि आने वाले समय में AI literacy, data skills, technology, management और job-ready programmes EdTech demand के प्रमुख क्षेत्र बने रह सकते हैं।

Unacademy, Vedantu, Simplilearn और Adda247 के अलग-अलग Business Models

हर बड़े EdTech brand को ₹1,000 करोड़+ revenue category में रखना सही नहीं होगा। Unacademy, Vedantu, Simplilearn और Adda247 अपने-अपने segments में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाते हैं और इनके business models भी अलग हैं। उपलब्ध FY25 data के अनुसार, Unacademy का consolidated operating revenue करीब ₹702 करोड़, Simplilearn का करीब ₹556 करोड़ और Adda247 का करीब ₹217 करोड़ रहा, जबकि Vedantu का FY25 revenue करीब Rs 234 करोड़ रहा।

इसलिए इन कंपनियों को ₹1,000 करोड़+ revenue club में शामिल करना उचित नहीं होगा। साथ ही, PhysicsWallah, Great Learning और upGrad के साथ तुलना करते समय अलग-अलग financial reporting periods, consolidated/standalone figures और business models को ध्यान में रखना जरूरी है। Unacademy मुख्य रूप से test preparation और hybrid/offline learning, Vedantu K-12 online and hybrid tutoring, Simplilearn professional upskilling और certification, जबकि Adda247 government-exam preparation और vernacular learning पर केंद्रित है।

Unacademy test preparation और offline expansion पर focus कर रहा है, जबकि Vedantu hybrid education और school-focused opportunities पर जोर दे रहा है। Simplilearn professional certification और corporate upskilling में अपनी position मजबूत कर रहा है, वहीं Adda247 government exams, banking, SSC और vernacular learning segments पर केंद्रित है।

Hybrid Education से बदल रहा EdTech Business Model

EdTech sector में hybrid learning अब केवल एक temporary post-pandemic trend नहीं रह गया है। PhysicsWallah का online और offline model इसका एक प्रमुख उदाहरण है। Offline centres learners को classroom experience देते हैं, जबकि digital platforms scale और flexibility उपलब्ध कराते हैं।

इसी तरह professional education में live online classes, recorded content, mentorship, university partnerships और career services को एक साथ जोड़ने का trend बढ़ रहा है। इससे learners को केवल course completion के बजाय career outcomes और industry readiness पर अधिक ध्यान देने वाला learning experience मिल रहा है।

FY26 में Sustainable Growth होगी सबसे बड़ी कसौटी

FY26 में Indian EdTech sector की असली प्रतिस्पर्धा केवल यह तय करने तक सीमित नहीं होगी कि किस कंपनी का revenue सबसे ज्यादा है। ज्यादा महत्वपूर्ण यह होगा कि कौन-सी कंपनी revenue growth को profitability, learner outcomes और long-term customer value में बदल पाती है।

उपलब्ध comparable quarterly data में PhysicsWallah की Q1 FY26 में 33% operating-revenue growth एक मजबूत publicly reported indicator है। हालांकि, इसे पूरे Indian EdTech sector में “सबसे अधिक growth” कहना उचित नहीं होगा, क्योंकि अधिकांश unlisted EdTech कंपनियां quarterly financial results सार्वजनिक रूप से जारी नहीं करतीं।

कुल मिलाकर, PhysicsWallah, Great Learning और upGrad जैसे players के प्रदर्शन से संकेत मिलता है कि भारत का EdTech sector अब hyper-growth से आगे बढ़कर एक ऐसे phase में प्रवेश कर रहा है, जहां AI, hybrid education, professional upskilling और profitability आने वाले growth cycle के प्रमुख आधार बनेंगे।
