Ms. Avantika Saraogi is a fourth-generation member of the promoter family of Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd. (BCML) and a pioneering force in sugarcane, bioplastics and sustainable business. A Cum Laude graduate with a B.A. Hons from Scripps College, Claremont, California, she leads BCML’s cane operations and development, while overseeing strategy, procurement, technology, sustainability and communications. Over four years, Avantika has spearheaded Bioyug, India's first Poly Lactic Acid Bioplastic manufacturing facility, with a capacity of 80,000 TPA. The project aims to create two global milestones: processing sugarcane into PLA at a single location and operating entirely on renewable energy. She has driven partnerships with global technology providers, developed downstream capabilities, nurtured talent and secured government support, advancing BCML’s transition towards specialty chemicals and biomaterials. A strong advocate for sustainable agriculture, she has challenged misconceptions around sugarcane’s water intensity through research and data, while championing farmer welfare and rural development. Inspired by her late grandmother, Padma Smt. Meenakshi Saraogi, and father, Mr. Vivek Saraogi, Avantika’s vision and resilience have earned her recognition in Fortune India’s 40 Under 40 (2025) and the 2026 ASK Private Wealth Hurun India Successors 50, recognising her as a next-generation leader driving innovation while advancing a strong legacy.
