NCRTC Expands Delhi EV Charging Network

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has commissioned a high-capacity electric vehicle (EV) charging station at the New Ashok Nagar Namo Bharat Station in Delhi. Operational since July 17, the new facility expands the EV charging network along the Namo Bharat corridor to nine stations, supporting the development of a stronger and more accessible EV charging infrastructure.

According to NCRTC, the facility is among the largest public ultra-fast EV charging stations in Delhi. It features 14 digital charging points, including seven 240 kW chargers, four 360 kW ultra-fast chargers, and three 480 kW ultra-fast chargers. The 480 kW chargers are specifically designed to support heavy-duty electric vehicles, including electric buses.

The charging station is capable of serving multiple private and commercial electric vehicles simultaneously. It is equipped with advanced safety and monitoring systems, while users can locate and access the facility through the NCRTC mobile application, enabling seamless integration with the Namo Bharat transit service.

NCRTC stated that the charging station will benefit commuters who travel to the station in private EVs by allowing them to charge their vehicles while using the Namo Bharat service. It will also serve nearby residents and commercial EV fleet operators. The corporation believes that improved access to charging infrastructure will encourage greater adoption of electric vehicles across the region.

With the commissioning of the New Ashok Nagar facility, NCRTC now operates high-capacity EV charging stations at nine Namo Bharat stations—Sahibabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Muradnagar, Modinagar South, Modinagar North, Meerut South, Anand Vihar, and New Ashok Nagar.

NCRTC reiterated that environmental sustainability has been a key focus of the Namo Bharat project since its inception. The corporation continues to promote renewable energy, energy-efficient infrastructure, and improved last-mile connectivity, with the new charging station supporting both commuter convenience and the wider adoption of electric mobility.
