Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that this plan would greatly benefit students in the capital. She stated that the government wants to develop Narela as a major education hub and is trying to include it in the initiative under which five university townships will be set up near industrial and logistics corridors.
On Monday (February 2, 2026), Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that her government is making efforts to include Narela as one of the five university municipalities proposed in the Union Budget.
The Chief Minister reiterated that this initiative would benefit students in Delhi. She said the government aims to turn Narela into an education center and is trying to include it in the plan under which five university townships will be established near industrial and logistics corridors.
Earlier, on January 10, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood had announced an increase in the budget for Narela Education City. He said that the Rekha Gupta government had raised the allocation for this project in the 2025-26 budget from ₹500 crore to ₹1,300 crore.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also said that Delhi’s schools would benefit from the budget proposals. Under this plan, content creation labs related to animation, visual effects, gaming, and comics will be set up in 15,000 secondary schools and 500 colleges.
